What is the last book you marked as read?

What are you currently reading?

When the body of a snatched schoolgirl is found in an abandoned biosciences building, the case is first treated as a kidnapping gone wrong.

But Detective Kay Hunter isn’t convinced, especially when a man is found dead with the ransom money still in his possession.

When a second schoolgirl is taken, Kay’s worst fears are realised.

With her career in jeopardy and desperate to conceal a disturbing secret, Kay’s hunt for the killer becomes a race against time before he claims another life.

For the killer, the game has only just begun…

I’m a couple of chapters in and really enjoying this one!

What was the last book you marked as to read?

Following an argument with her British boyfriend, Chinese student Min Li is abducted whilst walking the dark streets of picturesque Stratford-upon-Avon alone.

Trapped in a dark pit, Min is at the mercy of her captor. Detective Inspector Will Jackman is tasked with solving the case and in his search for answers discovers that the truth is buried deeper than he ever expected.

But, as another student vanishes and Min grows ever weaker, time is running out. Can Jackman track down the kidnapper, before it’s too late?

Do you use the star rating system?

Yes, I use it, but I’m sure I don’t use it accurately! I don’t actually like the system (that’s why I don’t use it on my blog) but I understand the need for it. I say I don’t like it because it not universal to everyone – unless you know a person’s rating system, it’s kind of meaningless, for example, on my blog I only feature books I’ve enjoyed and they are all 3 stars (to me) or above, but I’ve seen people give a book 3 stars and place it in the Did-Not-Finish pile.

What book do you plan on reading next?

Since the Damn Stupid turned the clock back on civilization by centuries, the world has been a harsher place. But Elka has learned everything she needs to survive from the man she calls Trapper, the solitary hunter who took her in when she was just seven years old.

So when Elka sees the Wanted poster in town, her simple existence is shattered. Her Trapper – Kreagar Hallet – is wanted for murder. Even worse, Magistrate Lyon is hot on his trail, and she wants to talk to Elka.

Elka flees into the vast wilderness, determined to find her true parents. But Lyon is never far behind – and she’s not the only one following Elka’s every move. There will be a reckoning, one that will push friendships to the limit and force Elka to confront the dark memories of her past.

Are you doing a 2016 reading challenge?

No, most definitely not! And I won’t be doing one next year either, they cause me unnecessary stress and pressure. If you read my bookish rambling on The Pressure of Reading Challenges, you’ll know exactly why.

What book do you plan on buying next?

I’m trying my hardest not to buy any books this month as I’ve got 100+ unread books on my bookshelf. Plus I need to save the pennies as Christmas is coming! I didn’t even get a Kindle First book this month.

Do you have a wish list?

Kind of – I created a shelf called ‘Un-owned books to read’, so you could say that’s my wishlist. I had to separate my owned and un-owned books after I bought Follow Me by Angela Clarke twice as I forget I’d already bought it.

What is your favourite quote?

If there was ever a book to take quote after quote from, it’s ‘The Picture of Dorian Gray’ by Oscar Wilde.

Who are your favourite authors?

Oh Gosh… the answer to this question is a blog post in itself! I am in awe of all authors; to have written a book that is being read by the masses – they’re the real celebrities and there so should be an ‘I’m an Author, Get Me Out Of Here.’

Have you joined any groups?

No, it’s hard enough managing a blog, goodreads, twitter and bookstagram while staying on top of my Netgalley books and other review copies and being a single parent and studying Mental Health Nursing full time at uni. My brain can’t handle any more lol.
