If you read my last post (or caught my posts on social media), you’ll know I took part in the 24in48 readathon this weekend. So, how did I do?
I read for: 24 hours 4mins
I did it! I’m so happy, I feel like this is a real achievement – is it acceptable to mention this when applying for jobs!?! It was so worth only sleeping for 4 hours each night! I finished 4 books, one more than I thought I would – there’s nothing like a readathon to stop me procrastinating. There was a slight change to my TBR, these are the four books I finished:
I enjoyed all four books, and that was important to keep my reading momentum going. I’m particularly happy I read Dark Matter because it was FANTASTIC! I’ll have reviews up for all four books soon! I also wanted to finish reading A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara but you can’t have it all – I did read 104 pages of it though and I plan to finish it this week, so you can expect my review for it early next month.
As tiring as the readathon was, I really enjoyed it and I love how supportive the book community is. I’ll definitely be taking part again and I’ll also be better prepared, doing the majority of the reading at the beginning instead of the end. When I started the clock, I read for only 4 hours 55mins….. Jump forward to Sunday morning, in order to ensure I read for 24 hours, I had to read solidly for 8 hours 30mins – I would definitely switch those reading blocks around because I was so tired towards the end – I’m declaring readathons a sport!
Thank you for all the messages of support along the way and all the messages of congratulations – you guys are AMAZING!
Did you take part in 24in48? If you did, let me know how you got on.

You are so brave! I tried the 24 hr readathon hosted by ReadbyZoe and that was more than enough for me, granted I didn’t do the 24hrs I think I did about 7! Well done

Thanks 😊 it’s definitely easier to spread it over 2 days, I couldn’t read for 24 hours straight!

The thing started at midnight and at 3 am I was still awake unable to read because I was so tired and unable to sleep because I was thinking about the readathon lol my poor daughter got really frustrated that I kept telling her ‘Sssshhh readathon!’ Lol

lol I think it’s so hard to start at midnight, that’s why I altered the time frame starting at 6pm and finishing earlier!

I started when I woke at 8 but I was clean wrecked. I think if I do one in the future it will be over 2 days lol

I can’t even read 100 pages in one day, and you did this!! Congrats ^_^ I’m currently reading The Color Purple for the Summerbibib and the Booktubeathon. Dark Matter has been on my TBR for a while, I’m looking forward to reading it. 🙂

Haha thanks! Oo I look forward to your thoughts on The Color Purple- since I finished my reread, I’ve bought two of her other books. And don’t make the same mistake I did by leaving Dark Matter on the shelf, it needs to be read asap!

Thanks Lorraine! I enjoyed it, although not as much as Baby Doll. I’ve noticed Overton’s got a trait to her writing – where the book could have ended, she continues the story. I thought the plot would build up to and end with ‘the act’ but she continued the story on which I liked

It’s deeeeefinitely a sport! I am so impressed by all of you who took part. I couldn’t this year, but I’m thinking maybe I will in January? It’s quite a bit daunting though! I’m one of those unfortunate people who need a lot of sleep
Your pics are amazing, BTW!
