Silent Child is this month’s Criminally Good Book Club selection, and also a book I’ve been wanting to read for some time now.

bookdescription

In the summer of 2006, Emma Price watched helplessly as her six-year-old son’s red coat was fished out of the River Ouse. It was the tragic story of the year – a little boy, Aiden, wandered away from school during a terrible flood, fell into the river, and drowned.

His body was never recovered.

Ten years later, Emma has finally rediscovered the joy in life. She’s married, pregnant, and in control again…

… until Aiden returns.

Too traumatized to speak, he raises endless questions and answers none. Only his body tells the story of his decade-long disappearance. The historic broken bones and injuries cast a mere glimpse into the horrors Aiden has experienced. Aiden never drowned. Aiden was taken.

As Emma attempts to reconnect with her now teenage son, she must unmask the monster who took him away from her. But who, in their tiny village, could be capable of such a crime?

It’s Aiden who has the answers, but he cannot tell the unspeakable.

This dark and disturbing psychological novel is a page-turner you will not be able to put down. Continue reading “Book Review: Silent Child by Sarah A. Denzil”

Looking Ahead – This Month’s TBR List (December 2017)

Looking Ahead Banner

Before we get to today’s post, I just want to let you all know about my Twitter hiatus – I’m currently in “Twitter Jail.” Basically, Twitter thinks my account is a spam account due to the number of posts I’ve shared featuring links, so to combat this problem – I won’t be sharing any posts to Twitter for a while, until my account is back to normal.

Now that all my reviews for books read in November have been published, I’m linking up with Tina @ Reading Between the Pages to Look Ahead at the books I hope to read in December. This is a new monthly meme showcasing your monthly TBR and if you head over to Tina’s blog, you can submit your blog post link and see what others are reading and discover new blogs/books.

Book Review: Stillhouse Lake by Rachel Caine (Stillhouse Lake #1)

Stillhouse Lake - Rachel Caine

Stillhouse Lake is this month’s Criminally Good Book Club book and what a good book it was! Stillhouse Lake is a lesson in paranoia.

Book Description:

Gina Royal is the definition of average – a shy Midwestern housewife with a happy marriage and two adorable children. But when a car accident reveals her husband’s secret life as a serial killer, she must remake herself as Gwen Proctor – the ultimate warrior mom.

With her ex now in prison, Gwen has finally found refuge in a new home on remote Stillhouse Lake. Though still the target of stalkers and Internet trolls who think she had something to do with her husband’s crimes, Gwen dares to think her kids can finally grow up in peace.

But just when she’s starting to feel at ease in her new identity, a body turns up in the lake – and threatening letters start arriving from an all-too-familiar address. Gwen Proctor must keep friends close and enemies at bay to avoid being exposed – or watch her kids fall victim to a killer who takes pleasure in tormenting her. One thing is certain: she’s learned how to fight evil. And she’ll never stop. Continue reading “Book Review: Stillhouse Lake by Rachel Caine (Stillhouse Lake #1)”
