Looking Ahead – This Month’s TBR List (May 2018)

I’m linking up again with Tina @ Reading between the Pages to look ahead at the books I’d like to read in May. This month I’m hoping to read at last half of the books on my Netgalley shelf; my rating is disturbingly close to falling below the 80% mark, and I just cannot allow it, so I’ve got 9 Netgalley reads planned! I’ve also got some buddy reads and book club reads planned, which I’m looking forward to. So, here’s May’s hopefuls…

NEEDFUL THINGS by Stephen King

Needful Things - Stephen KingThere was a new shop in town. Run by a stranger.

Needful Things, the sign said. The oddest name. A name that caused some gossip and speculation among the good folks of Castle Rock, Maine, while they waited for opening day.

Eleven-year-old Brian Rusk was the first customer and he got just what he wanted, a very rare 1956 Sandy Koufax baseball card. Signed. Cyndi Rose Martin was next. A Lalique vase. A perfect match for her living room decor.

Something for everyone. Something you really had to have. And always at a price you could just about afford. The cash price that is. Because there was another price. There always is when your heart’s most secret, true desire is for sale . . .

Six Four by Hideo Yokoyama

Six Four - Hideo YokoyamaSIX FOUR.
THE NIGHTMARE NO PARENT COULD ENDURE.
THE CASE NO DETECTIVE COULD SOLVE.
THE TWIST NO READER COULD PREDICT.

For five days in January 1989, the parents of a seven-year-old Tokyo schoolgirl sat and listened to the demands of their daughter’s kidnapper. They would never learn his identity. They would never see their daughter again.

For the fourteen years that followed, the Japanese public listened to the police’s apologies. They would never forget the botched investigation that became known as ‘Six Four’. They would never forgive the authorities their failure.

For one week in late 2002, the press officer attached to the police department in question confronted an anomaly in the case. He could never imagine what he would uncover. He would never have looked if he’d known what he would find.

Looking Ahead Banner

I’m linking up again with Tina @ Reading Between the Pages to look ahead at the books I’d like to read in March. This month is a rather ambitious pile of books, because I just can’t narrow it down any further. I’m under no illusions that I’ll get through them all but I’m damn well going to try!

IT by Stephen King

IT - Stephen King‘They float…and when you’re down here with me, you’ll float, too.’

Derry, Maine is just an ordinary town: familiar, well-ordered for the most part, a good place to live.

It is a group of children who see – and feel – what makes Derry so horribly different. In the storm drains, in the sewers, IT lurks, taking on the shape of every nightmare, each one’s deepest dread. Sometimes is appears as an evil clown named Pennywise and sometimes IT reaches up, seizing, tearing, killing . . .

Time passes and the children grow up, move away and forget. Until they are called back, once more to confront IT as IT stirs and coils in the sullen depths of their memories, emerging again to make their past nightmares a terrible present reality.

Looking Ahead – This Month’s TBR List (December 2017)

Looking Ahead Banner

Before we get to today’s post, I just want to let you all know about my Twitter hiatus – I’m currently in “Twitter Jail.” Basically, Twitter thinks my account is a spam account due to the number of posts I’ve shared featuring links, so to combat this problem – I won’t be sharing any posts to Twitter for a while, until my account is back to normal.

Now that all my reviews for books read in November have been published, I’m linking up with Tina @ Reading Between the Pages to Look Ahead at the books I hope to read in December. This is a new monthly meme showcasing your monthly TBR and if you head over to Tina’s blog, you can submit your blog post link and see what others are reading and discover new blogs/books.

Already Read…

Reviews for The Foster Child by Jenny Blackhurst, The Chalk Man by C.J. Tudor and Anatomy of a Scandal by Sarah Vaughan will be up on the blog this week.
